By Anagha: Senior leaders of the BJP are talking with the dissatisfied leaders and the dissidence will end soon, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said. The party’s Karnataka unit is facing rebellion from several senior leaders, who have not been given the tickets to contest the Assembly poll.

Changing parties has become very common in politics, Bommai said, adding that a few MLCs and aspirants have resigned after the two lists were announced.

“The dissatisfied leaders were convinced. Whatever dissatisfaction is prevailing in the party, will be addressed soon. The party workers are strong, due to which there will not be much damage. The dissidence in most parts of the districts will end soon,” he assured, adding that he is talking with seniors and the party high command.

Attempting to downplay the rebellion, Bommai said there is no truth to MLA Nehru Olekar’s allegations of a Rs 1,500 crore scam.

“Let Nehru Olekar make any allegation but he must do it with evidence. No point in a mere statement… Let him give documents to justify his charges,” Bommai said.

Speaking about former Deputy Chief Minister Lakshman Savadi’s resignation, Bommai said: “Lakshman Savadi must protect the faith of the people.”

“Savadi is a senior leader and has been in politics for a long time. There is pressure on Savadi from the people but it requires time,” Bommai said.

The high command is talking to the dissatisfied leaders and so is he, Bommai said.

‘CONGRESS WON’T COME TO POWER’

The Congress doesn’t have enough “suitable candidates” to give tickets to, Bommai said today, adding, there is no question of the party coming to power in the state.

“Congress doesn’t have candidates for 60-65 seats. They released a list for 160 seats and left it there. They put up a show of bravery in the beginning by releasing the first list. But, till today, they have not been able to release the remaining list of candidates. This is their politics. They don’t have suitable candidates. There is no question of coming to power,” Bommai said.

The BJP has announced the names of 212 candidates so far in two installments. The party is yet to announce the names of the remaining 12.

Karnataka will vote on May 10 to elect 224 legislatures for the state assembly.
