Despite being the son of an established director, Harman Baweja’s journey as an actor has seen quite a few setbacks. But right now he is making waves in the entertainment industry with his exceptional performance in the recently released Netflix original series, Scoop. Amid this, Baweja has spoken on the nepotism debate while stating that after delivering multiple flop films, his father Harry Baweja, was keen to make another film starring his son. However, Harman rejected the idea.

Harman expressed his perspective on nepotism during a recent episode of Aur Batao with RJ Stutee. He acknowledged the debatable nature of the topic and agreed that there is “some validity” to it. Harman compared the situation to that of a businessman’s or cobbler’s son, where individuals gain knowledge and expertise within their fields. According to him, every father “owes it somewhere to themselves to give the best to the next of kin a duty,” he personally understands as a new father.

He further added, “I think that’s a very natural progression of the human race. We all faint for the next of kin. After that you’ve got to make your own path. For me, even though the first film didn’t work and then I had a couple more which didn’t work. My father would keep insisting on doing another film and the one thing I told him very clearly is that I will never let you do another film for me because you’ve done your bit as a dad and then the rest is my journey, my life , my destiny and my hard work. I never let him actually do anything with me again.”

In his concluding remarks, he expressed, “As a parent, you give your kids education, you give them an upbringing and then it’s upon them. In this case, he gave me what he could do best for me and then it’s upon me.”
