Asad Ahmed was set marry cousin, wedding plans made weeks before death in encounter

By Santosh Kumar Sharma: Asad Ahmed, jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed’s son who was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday in Jhansi, was set to marry soon. It has been learnt that Atiq Ahmed had fixed his 19-year-old son’s marriage with his sister’s daughter. However, the February 24 murder of Umesh Pal led to a postponement in the plans to get married.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had accused Asad of being involved in the Umesh Pal murder. His father Atiq is also an accused in the case.

Asad, who was on the run after the February 24 murder, was located by the UP Police in Jhansi on Thursday. According to police statements, Asad, who was accompanied by an accomplice named Ghulam, opened fire at the cops who were trying to arrest him. Both Asad and Ghulam were killed in the ensuing encounter. UP STF ADG Amitabh Yash said that the STF team had been trying to nab Asad and Ghulam for the last month and a half.
