By India Today News Desk: The BJP is trying to divert attention from the real issues, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said in reaction to the killing of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad’s encounter by the Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force Police.
Taking to Twitter, Akhilesh Yadav said, “By doing false encounters, the BJP government is trying to divert attention from the real issues. The BJP does not believe in the court at all. Today’s and recent encounters should also be thoroughly investigated, and the culprits should not be spared. Power does not have the right to decide what is right or wrong. BJP is against brotherhood.”
Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad wanted in Umesh Pal murder case, has been killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi. Another person, Ghulam, with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was also killed in the encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, led by Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal.

Asad’s encounter comes on a day when his father, gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed has been produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Prayagraj in the Umesh Pal murder case.
OPPOSITION LEADERS REACTION
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has also reacted to the encounter killing of Atiq Ahmed’s son, Asad by the UP STF. She said that multiple discussions are making rounds on the killing of Prayagraj’s Atiq Ahmed’s son and another in a police encounter today.
People feel that their apprehension of a repeat of the Vikas Dubey incident has come true. Therefore, a high-level investigation is necessary, so that the complete truth behind the incident can come in front of the public, added Mayawati.
Responding to Asad’s encounter, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi asked the BJP party, “Will those who killed Junaid and Naseer be killed in an encounter? No, you will not because you encounter in the name of religion.”

Mentioning that this was tearing apart the law, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the BJP wanted to encounter the constitution.
Asaduddin Owaisi further said, “You are trying to weaken the rule of law. Then why Court? Why Judges? Why CrPC, IPC? Why Public Prosecutor?”
“If you decide to provide justice through bullets (encounter) then close the Courts,” added AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
