WHY IS PUNJAB POLICE LOOKING FOR AMRITPAL SINGH?
Amritpal Singh and his supporters stormed Ajnala police station in February and violently clashed with police officials. The protesters, demanding the release of Lovepreet Toofan – a close aide of Amritpal Singh, stormed the police station carrying guns and swords.
Amritpal Singh had reportedly issued a threat recently to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying he would meet the same fate as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
So far, more than 100 people have been arrested in connection with the case, including his close aide Papalpreet Singh.
