Renowned director Apoorva Lakhia recently revealed his equation with Tollywood superstar Ram Charan, stating that the actor no longer answers his calls after Zanjeer. For the unversed, Lakhia introduced Ram Charan to Bollywood with the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Zanjeer in 2013. The film also featured Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt. Lakhia recalled their last conversation, emphasising that it was always Ram’s wife, Upasana Kamineni, who responded. This revelation has left fans and industry insiders wondering what caused the apparent breakdown in their once-close bond.

Apoorva Lakhia reveals changing dynamics with Ram Charan after Zanjeer debacle; says, “He doesn’t answer my calls now”

Apoorva Lakhia revealed this in a conversation with Siddharth Kanan. Apoorva was asked if their equation changed after Zanjeer flopped. The filmmaker asserted, “No, he’s a really good friend of mine. In fact, I’ve visited him quite often after that as well, but he doesn’t answer my calls now.” He further added, “I don’t know why. His wife replies, but he doesn’t. Maybe his number has changed.”

Providing further insight into the matter, Apoorva Lakhia disclosed that he received a phone call from Ram Charan while the actor was reportedly shooting in Ukraine, presumably for the highly anticipated film RRR. Lakhia said, “He asked me what I was doing. I said I was working on my show. He wanted me to shoot some second-unit action sequences, so I told him I’d get back to him. I was working on something, so I couldn’t go, but that was the last time we spoke. He calls me randomly, but he doesn’t answer my calls. He must be busy. Whenever I’m in Hyderabad, his wife calls me over, and I go. But I haven’t gone in a while. When I went after Zanjeer didn’t do well, it was fine.”
